barbara caveng was born 1963 in zürich, switzerland. from 1982 to 1986 she studied at the hochschule für musik und darstellende kunst in graz, austria. since 1991 she has taken part as a free-lance artist in numerous art projects, concentrating on sculpture, installation and object art. her installations have been recently shown in projects in the museum of modern art in stockholm, in kunstnernes hus, oslo, the haus der kunst in munich, at the art museum of akurery, iceland, at kunsthalle mannheim und in heidelberger kunstverein.

barbara caveng was awarded in 2003 with the H. W. & J.Hector award by kunsthalle mannheim for installation and in 2002 with the award of the city of limburg for her work U MENJA EST METSCHTA – I HAVE A DREAM. 2001 she was 1th laureate for the installation “finalmeals” of the 1. heidelberger kunstpreis by rainer-wild-foundation.

she was awarded in 2001 with the cultural exchange scholarship for moscow by the senat of berlin and in 2002 as an artist in residence of bemis foundation, omaha.
